Chef Keith F. Snow is a nationally respected authority on local, seasonal and organic foods and a proponent of home cooking for families.
Chef Keith Snow began honing his culinary skills with his mom in their suburban New Jersey kitchen back in the 1970s. His interest in cooking led him to take his first job as a teenager in an Italian restaurant where he trained with a "disciplined" Italian Navy chef for 3 years. There he learned the basics of cooking in true military style, including how to keep a professional kitchen sparkling clean.
Chef Snow went on to work in kitchens in California, Florida, North Carolina, Massachusetts, and Colorado. His work included gigs in the Silicon Valley where he mastered California-style cuisine, the corporate kitchens of Florida's ITT country club operations, a brief stint at North Carolina's Biltmore estate, and as Executive Chef at Colorado's Copper Mountain Resort, owned by Intrawest Resorts. Chef Snow initiated the resort's first culinary externship program in partnership with Johnson & Wales University.
While at Copper Mountain, Snow was a frequent chef/quest on RSN, a local cable TV station. Snow also appeared on Denver's Fox News morning show where he demonstrated quick culinary tips and techniques.
With their first child on the way, Snow and his wife left the culinary business and moved the family to a farm in western North Carolina's horse country where he accepted a position with an insurance company. He quickly found that leaving the culinary world was a major mistake.
Returning to his true passion of working in the world of food and media, Snow created HarvestEating.com in early 2006. This innovative online library of healthy eating videos focusing on local, seasonal and organic foods is in constant development and has become a labor of love.
HarvestEating.com's videos are viewed by many thousands of people each month from all over the world. Videos are syndicated on over 500 websites making Chef Snow one of the most-watched chefs online.
Chef Snow is a founding board member of the Slow Food, Greenville, SC convivium and participates in Slow Food events locally.
Chef Snow lives with his wife Sonja and their two daughters Olivia Rose and Ava Elisabeth in the hills of North Carolina. Their small farm is the perfect place for gardening, riding horses, playing and learning about the good life. It's a place where the Harvest Eating lifestyle is alive and well and a daily inspiration for Chef Snow.
