Brown Duck Coffee-Starting a New Product Line

In recent months I have been focusing on expanding my coffee sales. To do that I needed to expand my roasting capacity, and make critical decisions regarding packaging, shipping, branding, and logistics. I have always felt that I needed to separate the coffee brand from my blogging and media brand here on Harvest Eating.

To that end, Brown Duck Coffee was born. The coffee will be making the progression from existing packaging to new packaging and also new size. Due to the huge increase in shipping rates I have to use smaller bags, so we will be going to the standard 12-ounce package. I personally prefer 1 lb but the difference in shipping cost (12 oz vs. 16 oz) makes it not feasible. When customers order coffee I currently am paying more for shipping than the customer and that is not possible because it makes the transaction much less profitable, not a good plan for a business that wants to stay in business.

I will be offering a monthly coffee subscription with a 2 lb minimum so your coffee arrives each month without having to re-order.

I have also added a medium roast to the line-up. Our Columbian beans named the Tail Feathers Roast is an excellent specialty coffee-graded arabica bean that makes a great brew! I have plans to add an espresso blend soon and possibly a decaf in the future, although I struggle with the idea of decaf as I relate it to non-alcoholic beer. However many people just like the flavor!

I hope my subscribers will help me spread the word to friends, family, and co-workers about Brown Duck Coffee as these are very fresh and very high-quality coffees. I will be offering a referral bonus if any referral becomes a subscriber, details forthcoming.

Here is a look at the new Tail Feathers blend….
