Cape Cod Trip 2021

I’m beyond excited (and also sad) about my upcoming trip to Cape Cod/ Marthas Vineyard which usually takes place in late July to celebrate my Mom’s and my brother’s birthday, both on the same day!

Sadly my Mom passed on 5/5/2021 peacefully at age 93..she was to turn 94 just the other day as I write this. We will be holding a memorial service to place Mom’ss headstone and my family will have a chance to say goodbye to Grandma.

That is the sad part….but the fun part is being on Cape Cod & The Islands for 2 weeks! We are fortunate to have a pretty nice boat that is big enough to make the trek from the Cape to Martha’s Vineyard, which we do often. The boat is docked just a short drive from the house so we’re on the dock in less than 5 minutes and the ride to the Vineyard is about 30 minutes if the waters are calm.

Some of the highlights are always the wonderful meals we cook and eat and the fun places we eat out. Some highlights include Four Seas Ice Cream which is my favorite ice cream shop on the planet. The homemade ice cream is so good and the lines and atmosphere are amazing. Plus it’s only about a 1/2 mile from Craigville Beach, where I used to be a lifeguard in another life. I also was a lifeguard in Wellfleet….on the ocean!

Also, we have chowder and seafood at some great Cape Cod locations such as the Quarterdeck Restaurant in Falmouth, Menemsha Fish Market on the Vineyard and hopefully we go again to The Seafood Shanty in Edgartown, although it can be hard to get a seat.

I will spend time with family and friends doing plenty of swimming in kettle ponds, at the beach in our neighborhood, and of course at Lake Tashmoo on the Vineyard….not really ya lake per se.

I have enclosed a photo gallery so you can get a feel for the place from my perspective since I took most of these photos. I will be posting tons on Instagram and here too.

I can’t wait to eat the following:

  • lobster rolls

  • clam chowda

  • swordfish

  • Wellfleet oysters

  • broiled codfish

and much, much more! Needless to say, here in Utah seafood is “not a thing”.
